Happy New Year…google…311 !!
30Sep08
Happy Rosh Hashana! I just realized in typing the last sentence that, without the internet, I would have spelled the Jewish New Year “Rosh Shashana” but thanks to the fierce search engine that is Google, my gut feeling that I was incorrect was confirmed and my spelling was edified.
Today, I ran into a neighbor on my way to repark my car. As I remembered too late to wish him Happy New Year (the elevator door had closed behind him) I *did* remember that alternate side parking might be suspended! I dashed to the phone and the city’s recorded hotline confirmed it for me. Yes!!
Ah, the information age is wonderful…

Great post! I wouldn’t have thought about the Alternate Side of the Street implications of Rosh Hashana. But then I am new to parking on the street (and not very religiously observant either!)
311 will become your lifeline. There are so many holidays for so many creeds and for lots of them parking rules are suspended. 311 will also tell you school zoning for any residential address. Thank you Mayor Mike!
