Happy Rosh Hashana! I just realized in typing the last sentence that, without the internet, I would have spelled the Jewish New Year “Rosh Shashana” but thanks to the fierce search engine that is Google, my gut feeling that I was incorrect was confirmed and my spelling was edified.

Today, I ran into a neighbor on my way to repark my car. As I remembered too late to wish him Happy New Year (the elevator door had closed behind him) I *did* remember that alternate side parking might be suspended! I dashed to the phone and the city’s recorded hotline confirmed it for me. Yes!!

Ah, the information age is wonderful…

Yes, I am a Beatles fan, but I am talking about the cereal! I am ADDICTED. But that’s it. I just finished the box and I plan to refrain from buying it at the Food Co-op. Yes, it’s all organic with freeze-dried strawberries and raspberries. The first ingredient is organic long-grained rice, and the second…organic cane suger, of course. AH, it’s GOOD. Even the box is 100 percent recycled cardboard. Boy, do they know their audience. I also LOVE the Food Co-op. Where else would you pass by and hear the following snippet of conversation? “What’s going on with that raw food love triangle??” HA!

Tonight, the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council will host a community meeting at P.S. 9 (80 Underhill) to discuss the movement toward landmarking the neighborhood. If you are the least bit interested, I highly encourage you to come! It begins at 7 pm. 

So, we enjoyed two great shows at the Living Room last week and were thrilled to learn that Crescent and Frost are playing TONIGHT at SouthPaw. AND Annie Keating will be releasing her new CD! We are looking forward to hearing Annie live as she is phenomenal. All of this for just 8 bucks! And if you live nearby, you get to walk there. Please come and support great music in Brooklyn! The doors open at 8 pm and the show begins at 8:30 pm.

Our Mac is in the shop and with it, our Itunes. I’ve started singing to myself my favorite songs that are in my broken computer.

 Lucky for me, this week kicks off the 10th anniversary at the Living Room! Each night for two weeks there will be Living Room favorite performers. Suggested donation is $10.

If you are looking for something to do, go check out some great live music. You are bound to be glad you did.

 We are going there next Thursday, March 27 to hear some of our favorite musicians including: Chris Brown and Kate Fenner, Ron Sexsmith, Tony Scherr, and Ana Egge.

THEN, we will return Saturday, March 29th to hear the one and only Crescent and Frost!

Both shows kick off at 7:30. If you want to go, I suggest to get there early as it will certainly be packed.

I always want to wear bright yellow on a rainy day. On such days,
I will inevitably try to find the perfect yellow raincoat on line. I like the shiny ones and they are hard to come by. Why is this?

However, as you see to your right, it’s easy enough to find one for my dog (though I would never subject him to that.)

Here’s a great one on ebay -vintage from the 70’s. Here’s a raincoat that’s 30 years old that’s received over 400 hits! So, I’m not alone on this crusade.

A colleague told me I should try a shop on Atlantic Avenue. I think it’s a mens’ shop for workware so doubt they’ll have my size.

Oh well, at least I found that in Park Slope you can BORROW a yellow umbrella at participating businesses when it’s dreary outside. How cool is that??

My husband will be happy to learn that, according to the Daily News, Brooklyn is becoming more of a college town.

Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?

Ruby winning the best costuming award at the omegacon convention her parents took her to, (yes, they are big Star Wars fans), has prompted me to finally start my blog. She is not even one year old and has won her first trophy. She dressed as Chewbacca and got to meet IN PERSON the real chewbacca – Peter Mayhew (the man’s 7′3″!!).  Apparently he tours and signs autographs at sci-fi conventions for a small profit.

Ruby’s parents are proud.
